Dr Jimmy Hon

Dr Jimmy Hon is a senior consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospitals and a visiting consultant at the National University Heart Centre Singapore (NUHCS). He is fully registered with both the UK General Medical Council and the Singapore Medical Council.

Dr Hon graduated from the University of Bristol Medical School in 1996 and began his career in London as a research fellow with the internationally renowned heart surgeon, Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub. His research contributions in cardiac surgery have been widely published, and he has attracted significant research funding.

He underwent surgical training in London, earning Membership of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh in 2003, followed by six years of specialist training in cardiothoracic surgery at leading London centres. In 2008, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Cardiothoracic Surgery, and received his UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2009.

Dr Hon completed an advanced fellowship in minimally invasive aortic valve surgery in Vancouver, Canada, gaining expertise in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI).

Since returning to Singapore in 2010, Dr Hon has been integral to the development of the TAVI program at NUHCS. Dedicated to advancing cardiac surgery, he is actively involved in research, as well as teaching and mentoring young surgeons.

In 2025, Dr Hon moved into private practice, remaining a visiting consultant at NUHCS to continue his contributions to education and training. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, Hakka, and Cantonese, with proficiency in Hokkien and Teochew.
